Because of social media today we can know everything about people that they care to publically post -- and have little to no face-to-face or even phone interaction with them at all. I continually come across people who will tell me that they saw something about so-and-so on Facebook ... but they have no real relationship at all with them. I still prefer face-to-face conversation with eye contact over just reading and seeing what gets put online.
