Been a busy week for the release team up here at Villa Selina. We rescued 5 owls from tiny crowded cages and released 4 of them as 1 died during transportation from Denpasar markets. Owls are extremely fragile birds and dont take to captivity well at all. I target buying them for immediate release as most will generally die withing weeks of being caged. There are four owls sitting in a tree instead of a cage now. I also saves 2 Hanging Parrots and released them into the villas gardens with others that I released weeks back who have taken nicely to their new home. We feed them daily. The photos portray what we are up against. our presence and buying makes no difference and does not increase demand in the slightest, these people need money and unless the govts and powers that be can give them alternative jobs things will never change. I hope everyone on this page sympathizes with the situation and realises freedom is a much better option for these prro creatures. Thank You... Matt.
