Behavior is inherently neutral. Whether something is immoral or not is a societal construct. A societal construct that tells you that behavior is either wrong or right based on context. That being said, on my last post, some people didnt like the idea of eliminating genetics that cause health problems/diseases because it makes them think of eugenics. The context is of relevance, here. Were not talking about killing of X group of people. Were talking about making it so that people dont get Y gene and thus dont suffer for it. For example, if breast cancer ran in your family, it isnt eugenics to take out the cancer gene in your children. Its preventing future suffering. If ALS ran in your family, you wouldnt be killing off all the people with ALS, youd be preventing your children from getting ALS. Yes, there is a major difference between this and eugenics. And if you think that this is playing God, I think (playing devils advocate): 1.) We were given our immense intelligence for a reason. So we can solve our own problems. We were given the tools, so we should use them. 2.) God wouldnt care if we prevented our children from suffering. With all the other problems in the world... this probably isnt even on the list of things to worry about. - Michelle
