Being Wrong by Kaze Gadway “So what has been your biggest change since you live on the streets?” I ask a middle aged man who is sitting on his backpack. “Well,” he laughs. “I’m not afraid of being wrong anymore.” After we talk a bit he says “I used to do everything to prove that I was right, that I knew what I was doing. The freedom of the streets is that I don’t have to prove myself to anyone. I am who I am and nobody cares if I am right or wrong.” I look at him from the corner of my mind and I see someone who seems at peace with who he has become and the price he has paid for it. Then I think about others I know who live in houses, especially young people and think of the burden they bear in trying to be “right” in the eyes of the parents, teachers and friends.
