Being a member of theh NAIA and attending their conferences is, to a great extent, responsible for Colorscapes reputation as a real juried art festival. I highly recommend them. The National Association of Independent Artists is committed to being the collective voice of artists in the art show industry. Several years ago, the NAIA created the ActionLine as a tool for members to bring issues to the attention of shows without having to stand alone as an individual artist trying to explain their concern to a show. The ActionLine was conceived as a method for the NAIA to act as liaison between artists and shows both to depersonalize the message as well as to place the issue at hand in the broader context of our Advocacies. It was introduced as a benefit service open to active NAIA members and, over the years numerous issues have been resolved through the dedication and hard work of the volunteers who run it. In response to our members and in an effort to better serve as their voice, the NAIA is now inviting all artists in the industry to use the ActionLine. While the it was originally intended as a service open only to members, the NAIA believes that our members as well as the industry at large will be better served if it is a resource open to all. Poorly conceived show regulations, unfair rule enforcement, and broken show contracts (et al.) are issues that affect all artists and, as their collective voice, the NAIA is the ideal medium to address these problems. The NAIA has spent years developing a thorough list of best practices for shows that are detailed in the Advocacies and the ActionLine is still, for the most part, dedicated to those issues. The NAIA encourages all artists in the industry to familiarize themselves with the Advocacies and to use the ActionLine to resolve problems as they arise. The particulars of what type of requests can and will be dealt with via the ActionLine remain the same. A full explanation of the scope of the ActionLine can be found on our website at https://naia-artists.org/actionline.php. The NAIA thanks it’s members for their support as it strives to promote the work of independent artists.
