Below you will see pictures of the Santa Febronia Chapel and its statuary. I have been a member here since 1949, I was and altar boy, later I was Treasurer, Feast Committee Co-chairman, 1st Trustee, then Chaplain up to the present day...my grandfather, Salvatore Faranda was one of the founders of this society and chapel back in 1921....it is a monument to the fire and zeal of the Sicilian people that came to Hoboken in the early part of this century. Many in the Faranda family, now we have a great problem, when Sandy hit last year, the downstairs portion of the Chapel the Society Hall was totally destroyed, furnaces, hot water boiler, kitchen, all the cabnets, all the dry wall, heating, electrical, bathrooms, everything destroyed, all the tables and chairs, etc etc, the City came in and turned off all the electric, because all the boxes were under water, they turned off the water, and only left us some electric so we can use the Chapel upstairs, FEMA gave us nothing, and there is no insurance for flood....so now it is up to us members of the Society, to not let our beautiful Chapel be destroyed. So I am asking all my family especailly the Farandas, to make some donations....and to my McBride Family we can make donations in memory of Nana Irene, she loved to sit and watch the altar that I made outside our house in Hoboken for the feast, she always helped with the cooking and loved the feast, I know she would be so proud of me as a priest. To my Facebook friends and family, we are really in dire need. I know times are hard now, but please if you can help, please do. Donations can be made to Santa Febronia Society and sent to me : Fr. George McBride, 124 Garfield Ave., Lodi, NJ 07644. If you would like to make a donation for a specific person please include a note with your donation. I have a box for all the notes and it will be placed on the altar and that person or persons will be prayed for every time we say Mass. Thank you and God Bless + Fr. Mickey +
