They feel that its a better story and thus has a larger impact. Dramatic changes are often fueled by something inspirational. But as we know, inspiration is short lived. We are after motivation- which has more staying power. If you work best doing the all or none principal, by all means go for it. However, dont set yourself up for failure by being too hard on yourself. Instead, employ tactics to increase your chance of success and to increase your chances of staying on track, long term. Thats the big secret. Arm yourself with information that INCREASES your odds of succeeding rather than doing random approaches. Makes sense, right? 1. Ween yourself down. Instead of cutting soda out completely, drink less each week until youre off of it. If you go cold turkey, youll eventually get back on it. 2. Get good advice. And stick to it. If you dont know the best way, stop thinking you do. Asking for help increases your rate of success. Losing 10 pounds shouldnt take all year. Stop wasting your time and reach your goal. Im sure you have other things you want to do. 3. Put something on the line. Saying you want it isnt good enough. Everybody wants it, but nobody wants it bad enough.
