But think through which charity youd like your money to go to. Often the smaller charities have a much higher percentage of the money raised going to the actual cause because they have less wages and overheads, and little to no advertising/marketing budget. Better still, find an individual in your community thats doing something totally amazing, or totally up shit creek who youd like to help. Here are two totally amazing friends of mine who are trying to raise money to get themselves and their children treated for Lyme disease. We are fighting for our lives with the few resources we have and every donation made to us goes exactly towards that, not in wages, expenses, advertising, but directly towards instrumentally helping someone YOU KNOW fight to get their lives back. We dont think the world revolves around us - we dont think you shouldnt be donating to other charities....just spare us a thought or even consider taking on a challenge for someone you actually know where you can see the difference your money will make.
