Bikesafe - Bikers in South East Region, get involved in BIKESAFE ! Call Waterford Traffic Corps 051 305347 Bikesafe is an initiative run by An Garda Síochána that aims to reduce the number of motorcycle casualties. Under the initiative, advanced Garda motorcyclists use their knowledge, skills and experience to help participants become safer and more competent riders. Bikesafe schemes are already run by 47 police forces in the UK and Northern Ireland. Over many years they have proved very successful, getting good support and publicity from the motorcycling community. In Ireland motorcyclists are a high risk group. They account for less than 2% of road users but account for 13.8% of road deaths. Bikesafe is part of a plan to address this high number of motorcycle fatalities and injuries by promoting safer riding.
