Birth Story: I had some problems towards the end of my pregnancy where they would have to do the non-stress testing. November 24th, 2003, they asked are you ready to have your bundle of joy? I say well yeah, but my due date isnt until December 9th, 2003. They said your baby is starting to stress, we need to get him out with in the next few days. Lets go ahead and schedual you to be induced. I said okay. I had to go in on November 26th, 2003 at 715am. They broke my water at Noon. No major problems until I wanted the epidural, they noticed I have spinal biffida and scolious. They called the dr to see if they checked my childhood history records to see if I could have the epi. Which they hadnt. Well the epi guy, said well we cant do the epi until we get the clear that you can have it. 3 hours later, Im so ready to faint I couldnt stand the pain (I also have a bad hystory of seizures which Ive been seizure free now for 13 yrs!!!!), he finally came back in, and goes let get this done so you can rest. I was only dialated to a 5/6. Got the epi, fell asleep. Well they woke me up at 645pm to check me. I was at a 8.5. At 655pm I looked at my mom and said help me up I got to go potty! She said oh no you dont, Dean go get her nurse! The nurse came in and goes your at a 10, we need to call your dr and tell her to come. As shes on the phone with my doctor, She looked again, and said "YOU NEED TO GET HERE NOW HES CROWNING, I CAN SEE HIS EYE LASHES" The doctor finally gets there at 730pm. She was able to glove up, no gown or anything else, he was here at 740pm! He was 6.4, 21.5 inches long! I had like 30 people watching me have him, and then they all wanted to hold him as soon as the weight height n all that was done. I held him for a few min then let everyone else hold him. Finally I said I want my baby NOW, as soon as I got him the nurse came over to talk to me, grabbed my baby, and ran. I yelled dad follow her with my baby, come to find out he had quit breathing, they rushed him to the NICU got the oxagyn on him. They said with the disstress he was in put a damper on his breathing with everyone holding him. I didnt get to see him for 16 hours. He is now 9.5 yrs old 78 pounds and 4 ft 6!!!! He does have asthma, but it only affects him when the pollen hits!!! **Brittany C.
