Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem. This post is for any Muslims who have been making fun of atheists and other people for believing in human evolution. While I agree with the belief that Allah, subhana wa taala, created Adam with His own hands and then from him created Eve and that all mankind today descends from those two people, I want to clear a few things up about the rumor that atheists believe humans came from monkeys. The human evolution theory as it stands today DOESNT say that humans evolved directly from monkeys or apes. And I will explain how. What the theory states is that humans and apes were once part of the same species, but that this species split off into two distinct species. In biology, a species is any two living things that can breed together because they share enough similarities. According to the modern theory of human evolution, humans and apes once could breed together because they were much more similar. These extra similarities that we dont see today were supposedly belonging to this common species, which probably looked like a cross between a person and an ape. But around seven millions years ago, the common species supposedly split off into two species instead of one because the two groups had gotten so different that they could no longer breed together. So the theory is not that we supposedly descended from monkeys, but rather its more like humans and apes are cousins. Its kind of like how Bani Israel descended from Prophet Isaac, while the Ishmaelites, which included ar-Rasululah, alayhi salaam, descended from Prophet Ishmael who as Isaacs brother. In this comparison, Ishmael and Isaac would represent the two species where they separated. And for the sake of argument, we will say that Isaacs descendants (Bani Israel) of today would represent modern humans, while the Ishmaels descendants of today, the Ishmaelites, would represent modern apes. And finally in the example, their father Prophet Abraham would represent the common ancestor.
