Black Dog Adoption Day 3/22/14. Caseys Safe Haven is having a Black Dog Adoption Day this Saturday at the Petsmart in Geneva on Randall Rd. from 11:00 - 3:00 pm. Shelters are overflowing with black dogs and they are euthanized at 4 times the rate of dogs of other color. Research has shown that prospective adopters associate black dogs with aggression due to TV and movies. Also, it is hard to get a good photo of a black do so they do not show as well on websites. This is known as Black Dog Syndrome and is recognized as a worldwide challenge. The reality is that black dogs are just as sweet and loving as any other dog or puppy. If you have waited for warm weather and are now looking to add a new family member please consider visiting us this weekend to meet our wonderful black dogs and puppies. We have labs, small dogs, medium dogs and large dogs as well as 3 amazing black puppies looking for a home.
