Boracay Island, The Philippines. Sporadic internet connectivity here. Really enjoying the fellowship with fellow Rotarians. They are ALL fans if This is Spinal Tap as the P. A. Is the conference center is always set to 11. They are waking us up with a little Gangnahm Style (sp?). I can report accurately after last night that rum tastes the same at a beach bar in the Philippines as it does in the Caribbean. But on a serious note we are coming up with many service project possibilities. The need here is pretty overwhelming, more projects than there is money or boots on the ground to implement. I heard a first hand report about Tacloban (area worst hit by Typhoon Yolanda) yesterday. Apparently there are still thousands living in tents. The harsh Filipino sun is degrading the fabric and many are beginning to fall apart. There are Shelter Boxes sitting in warehouses but government bureaucrats are not allowing them to be distributed. Things could get critical if the rainy season hits and these people are without shelter. More to come...
