Born fortunate!!!! The discussion on the dining table was that it was so easy to get into engineering or medicine in the 1940ies.My father was telling me that if one got a first class in matriculation then they got a seat in the college without an interview. My father is a mechanical engineer- and my grandfather was a civil engineer. My father’s maternal grandfather was an engineer and an inventor who was way ahead of his time. That means we have been educated for generations and all of them spoke fluent English. My mother too speaks so-despite studying in a Kannada medium school. Then we landed up talking about the grandmothers and when my mother mentioned that her great grandmother had only one child-pat came the comment from my daughter-“ she must have had PCOD-a condition where getting pregnant can be difficult. How people pick up what is being said around the house –my children know all about infertility and all the other topics that I am passionate about. So if you want your children to learn something talk about it and practice it.
