Botswana Travel Regulations – IMPORTANT UPDATE We have been advised that at this time, Botswana Immigration do not consider travelling on holiday an emergency and they will therefore not grant entry to any guest travelling on an Emergency Travel Document. Please ensure your clients are advised accordingly so that they have the appropriate travel documentation before departing on their safari. In addition, please be advised that the physical visa process in Botswana is undergoing an upgrade and some issues are being experienced over this transition period between the old system (paper visa) and the new system (printed in passport). It has caused problems due to Immigration not having the requisite printer at the points of entry (airports/road border crossings). Consequently, guests have to visit the town office to get the visas printed in their passports. This is causing some concern for our guests and the additional time taken has resulted in internal operational delays. If you have guests who require visas for Botswana and are travelling with a paper visa (rather than their visa being stamped in their passport), please advise your Journey Specialist, who in turn will advise ground operations. There may be an impact regarding timing when entering Botswana either via Kasane (road or airport) or at Maun airport and extra travelling time will need to be taken into account. Our Botswana office is in constant touch with the Immigration authorities regarding this situation and we will advise once it has been resolved.
