Boucherouite Exhibitions in Graz, Austria by collector and owner of BLAZEK, Berber-arts Two exhibitions featuring incredible Boucherouite, all handmade using the traditional knot and rag rug techniques. Althought they use the ancient techniques these rugs are considered the avant guarde or voice of modernity, of the Berber weaves. The bottom image is from an exhibition named Post Punk Pink, i love that of course, being someone whom grew up in the punk scene. Pink and Black were our colours, like a uniform…and the Boucheroite is so post modern, so punk. The rugs are made as useful everyday items, but they hold a political statement with in their essence, they speak of poverty and adapting to the use of recycled materials, which began after long droughts periods, that affected wool production, and other environmental and political circumstances that had a direct affect on the weavers lives.
