Bowls Report This Saturday and Sunday the NBC Carlton Open Pairs in memory of Clarrie Kerr will be held with the event open for Men and Women. Narrabri’s Number 6 Men’s Pennant Team travelled to the Oxley Club in Tamworth last weekend to play for the Zone 3 number 6 pennant flag. The first round of play saw them lose narrowly to South Tamworth and then a resounding win over Warialda on Saturday afternoon, however this meant Narrabri were dependant on Warialda defeating South Tamworth on Sunday morning. Unfortunately South Tamworth defeated Warialda by a margin of 2 shots. All in all a very good Pennant Season for the Sixes and congratulations on making the Zone Playoffs. A previously deferred game of Veteran Singles played out on June 17 with Barry Solomon taking on Ray Drysdale. Ray scored on the very first end, however Barry surged away to win 31-9 after 22 ends. The Idle Rich were on the greens on Thursday June 12 with Frank Wedesweiler, Percy Stubbs and Barry Shephard defeating Clive Norrie, Bill Rosewarn and Jeff Cloake 15-6. Bruce Tomlinson, Phil Bell and Basil Sandy defeated Ian Bailey, Archie Laird and Frank Elder 14-9. John Melbourne and Tony Parker defeated Anthony Welchman and Kerren Todkill 15-5.
