Boy skateboards in the middle of the street – erratically, in front of cars. Car comes close to hitting him but alert driver swerves and beeps. Boy screams, twice “F-you, look where you’re going.” Then again, F-ing look where you’re going.” Much could be said. The most constructive being: could we just give thanks? A little gratitude might keep a kid from being grateful he’s alive and being careful next time. A little gratitude might keep a driver alert and teaching wisdom and modeling common sense to the young ones in his life. It just seems way too often we go the route of the boy. And he’s not going to learn anything different if he doesn’t see it. Not a new or profound insight, and yet, there world could use more gratitude. Each one of us could make a world of difference being people of thanksgiving. Gratitude certainly helps.
