Braved the elements this morning! Took the girls out for brunch in the blizzard and then headed to the Dollar Store to spend Madis gift card that she won at school. Grandma matched it and gave Sienna 10$ to spend as well since Madi absolutely wanted to split her winnings with her sister. I didnt really agree but you try arguing with my mom lolol. I loathe malls on weekends so it was really just in and out which made it more meaningful for them.This was an experiment in restraint and I honestly thought I would run from that store screaming and in tears but to my total and utter shock they both grabbed a cart and methodically calculated what they could buy and even put back items that werent as interesting once they realized they had to deduct it from their total. They chose books, arts and craft kits, dinosaurs, a Hello Kitty Lego set, a twirly wand and they each got a pack of Tic Tacs and Juicy Fruit gum which they never have. This was an exercise for me as well in biting my tongue lol. It went super well and they even got some change back. They have been playing with their goodies ever since we got home. This made me realize I need to cut them some slack a bit. Surprisingly they stayed within budget, chose cool items that would last and actually consulted each other and enjoyed themselves. Tonight is a movie night! We are watching Walking with the Dinosaurs and ordering St-Hubert! Yum!! Fun way to end the weekend. :-))
