The fashion designer was found dead of an apparent suicide in her New York City apartment on Monday, March 17 Here we take a look back at Scotts life, including her storied fashion career and nearly 13-year relationship with Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger. The Roy, Utah native, who was adopted and raised by Mormon parents -- moved to Paris after graduating from high school to pursue a career as a model. She worked for Thierry Mugler and Chanel, before moving to California in the 1990s to establish herself as a stylist. She worked with Madonna, Julia Roberts, and Tom Hanks for photo shoots with W Magazine, and went on to design costumes for big-time films like Diabolique, Oceans Thirteen, and Eyes Wide Shut. Scott launched her first collection, Little Black Dress, in 2006. Her Headmistress dress from the line was famously worn by Madonna, and Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, and many other actress have worn her designs to the Academy Awards. More recently, Scott launched her first collection of handbags in May 2011, and collaborated with Banana Republic on an exclusive holiday line. The designer also created exclusive looks for longtime love Jagger, 70, to wear at his 50th anniversary celebration with the Rolling Stones in November 2012. The private couple, who began dating in 2001, gave their first joint interview to WWD in 2012 to discuss working together on the concert designs. When youre on stage [the costumes] have to fit and they have to be -- for me glamorous. They have to fit in with the show. jagger said. Though she received much praise for Jaggers costumes, Scott told the New York Times in December 2012 that she wasnt interested in creating a mens line. Im just hoping the extra wardrobe will encourage further shows, she said. Its not easy to tame Mick Jagger down but LWren was able to do it, a source told Us about their relationship back in 2011. They support each other all the time. Mick is just crazy about her. At the time of Scotts death, Jagger was on tour with the Rolling Stones in Australia.
