Brian Magee Talks To Geoffrey Warnock About Kant: Part 1 of 5 A - TopicsExpress

Brian Magee Talks To Geoffrey Warnock About Kant: Part 1 of 5 A pretty easy way to spend 9 minutes, this first section of the interview introduces Kant with some very brief biographical notes and then begins to define Kants position both as a philosopher as he lived and historically (e.g. as the first philosopher to hold an academic teaching position... in the West, I guess?). Were reassured that if the Critique of Pure Reason goes over our heads, that we can see how much help the Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics might be. In addition to that, Im also looking forward to reading the Metaphysic of Ethics. All things in the fullness of time. Were told that while Kant was not the first philosopher to grapple with the discrepancies between findings in the physical sciences on the one hand and ethical/religious convictions on the other, he was the first to do so following - and in discursive response to - Humes attack on philosophys fundamental capacity to possibly achieve its aims or anything at all.
