Brief Introduction about Forts Kavnai Height: 2500 feet Grade: Easy Fort Range: Igatpuri Location: Igatpuri-Nasik The main entrance door of the fort still stood in good condition. Entering the main door we can see cave of the right side. We can see small pond 2wards southern side of fort. There are many dilapidated structures of mansion by the side of this pond. A bastion at western end of the fort. A cistern is located near bastion. Tringalwadi Fort Height: 3238 feet Grade: Easy Fort Range: Igatpuri Tringalwadi has a beautiful fort, the trek to this fort is through lush green grass and a dam. The exact period of construction of this fort is not known, however, one can roughly estimate the fort to be in existence since 10th century. Also no historical details are available to know the period during which it was under control of Marathas, however, during the year 1688; Mughals took control over the fort by perfidy. Fascinating Spots : As one approaches this fort through Tringalwadi village at the foothills of the fort, we come across ‘Pandav leni’ caves. These caves are divided into three major areas viz. an outer verandah, ‘Vihar’, the abbey and internal ‘Garbhagriha’.
