Bringing back a picture posted from July 2009 when my logo and business name was designed and implemented on all Geckogen geckos and products. I worked very hard on this logo. Some of you know how hard it is to come up with an original name to represent your effort. This name is not just a play of words, it actually marries my professional career as a Molecular Biologist and and my love for Geckos and gecko keeping. The name is Geckogen and its short for Gecko Genetics. The projects goal: to work and establish unique looks for the geckos color and patterns. Geckos that are well started and unique to my effort. I could have started with geckos that come from reputable and or established breeders that were producing trendy geckos at the time. However, the goal was to differentiated my geckos from what was already established and hope to find new traits along the way. Geckogen has High end geckos but I do not used them to breed to more High end Geckos why?! Because I have noticed a decline in fitness on all those geckos ( small hatchlings, slow growth, picky eaters, flighty, low fertility rates, low hatching rates, etc, etc, etc) that are breed against the same trait over and over. Instead, I am working on deconstructing the phenotype and then bring it back together in the hopes to produce geckos that are healthier and stronger. I have breed Crested Geckos since 2002. And this my friends is a GECKOGEN fact.
