Brings us slightly closer to compliance with the World Health Org - TopicsExpress

Brings us slightly closer to compliance with the World Health Org codes. Cheap and free is the equivalent of no cost advertising. I am so glad to see system changes occurring even if it is slow. Formula has a time and place and is the best alternative when Breast milk is unavailable.... but we have done a huge disservice to our women by being uneducated about its risks, nutritional differences, and lack of support. By treating it like it is the difference between choosing between Pepsi and Coke we have created this culture and (in my opinion) many of our own health epidemics that come with the formula use. We need to be better about not only supporting moms, but medically giving BM to new babies in the hospital.... And if formula is used we need to EDUCATE on sterilization and proper way to make powdered formula (the most common kind purchased... And the most risky). It takes about 17 years to create and maintain health policy changes.... Hopefully by the time my girls may be parents we will be in a better place. So interesting!!
