Bruises all over my arms from last weeks blood test, with the uncomfortable awareness that it was entirely my own fault. It was a new nurse, who after two minutes introductory chat had revealed herself to be entirely and completely half-witted. I listened without comment, but with hindsight think my opinion may have displayed itself in my expression, as she became increasingly flustered and clumsy. After a few minutes she was in a complete state of confusion, I had holes in both arms and blood all over the place. In the end I took the needle out myself and said: I think thats quite enough of that now, dont you? I thought she was going to cry.
