Budapest had many beautiful imperial buildings from a 100 years ago when it was a capital of a major Empire. Now things are a bit run down after a few wars and dictatorships of the left and right... but the Hungarians seems to be recovering and I enjoyed being there. I wonder if Washington DC will be a similar post-imperial capital in 2113 after the American Empire declines and perhaps a war, fascist, communist or some other -ist strong leader "taking charge" have done their damage? Perhaps we will be renewing by then too...
