Buddy is available to meet by appointment anytime (call the office at 928-304-3211) AND hell be with us for Play Day today! Buddy! Buddy! Buddy! Were including Buddy here more to have him seen by many people in hopes that he sparkles the eye of his destiny! He was pulled from a home that had him exclusively chained in the backyard, nor did they think regular attention, care, feeding, or neutering were warranted. Hes safe, loved, neutered, vaccinated and doing just fine where he is now-- but he needs a proper young crowd to run with since hes under 2 years old himself! We feel like he should be running with kids and other dogs and since his rescuer has all older dogs who tire easily of his puppy shenanigans and energy, we introduce him to you. He weighs in between 12-15 pounds, is full grown, gained all his weight back, is perfectly healthy-- and has never had a mishap in the house while on our watch. This little Casanova need only wink at you to make you fall in love) I brought Buddy home for a visit yesterday afternoon to learn more about him. My dog (weighing in at 70 or 80 pounds) and Buddy played tirelessly for hours on end and happily ate dinner together (with supervision but very little intervention) and resumed their game. Activity did not diminish and not trusting a new dog and not wanting to crate (this was for fun, not for training) I made a cozy bed for them to share on our screened in porch. This morning, I peeked outside, was spotted- and this little shaver began to jump up and down, 3 or 4 feet off the ground, sat down and the ears went up shaking with excitement and got that cock eyed head turn sideways grin and the mystery ingredient popped right into my head: Jack Russel terrier. If this doesnt mean anything to you, then the dog is not for you. Jack Russels are high energy, high activity-- they need constant activity and/or a job. To have a well adjusted one requires a lot of attention and a mental wherewithal and understanding of the breed and the means to accommodate it. If you are a fan of this breed, this is the best of both worlds (yes, the Chihuahua). This dog has tons of personality, is smart (as in responsive to training, and in being dominant over the large dog without being fearful, mean or defensive), is confident in his cuteness. He was super awesome with the kids, they fell in love instantly! Once on your lap, he sits quietly and contentedly, but it only takes a dust mote to get him moving again. I would have had no concerns over him sleeping with the kids, being able to be crate trained, or adjusting to my household. The energy is boundless and way beyond anything normal so were I to have such a dog hed need other dogs and a fenced yard with dog door and lots of balls and toys and sand to dig in. So if you are reading this and considering-- this is a very fair heads up. Hes great! But the batteries are easy to recharge and the action is fast. Id recommend a young family or couple who is continually outside and on the move. If you live in the county, I am pretty sure hed negate any need for barn cats for pest control and no self respecting snake would come near. Buddy. A big lot of dog in a small package.
