Bulldog is gone - Chas Omnet RIP Chas Omnet died earlier this evening. He had a heart attack at home and passed away in the Western Infirmary. Can people pass on the bad news to his former colleagues in John Menzies, Whiteich Demolition, the council concierge service and the Underground system where he had started work earlier this year. An original member of the Rosevale RSC and an absolute bundle of fun. Chas was originally from Partick but moved to Whiteinch with his grandparents when the South Street/Beith Street/Rosevale Street area was redeveloped. Drumchapel would also play a large part in his life and in the last few years he had enjoyed moving to Knightswood near the park with his wife Sandra where he was overjoyed to welcome visits from him young grand-daughter. I’m sure plenty of people will come on with their memories of Chas - what a sense of humour he had and several of the more tellable tales of his adventures made it into the pages of Follow Follow over the years. In the last couple of years he was assistant manager of Drumchapel FP football club. About five years older than the bulk of the lads who formed the Rosevale RSC he was a guide, mentor and court jester to us all. Chas and I started going to the gym together 5/6 years ago - I needed it a bit more than him - we had our successes and failures together! Every day was an adventure with Chas - some joke, some bit of news, some lunatic story. He was a great pal in good times and bad. RIP CHAS
