Buxton. Buxton mum assaulted in babysitting row A Buxton dad assaulted his wife because it was his turn to go out, a court heard. Daniel Forsythe received a 12-month community order at High Peak Magistrates’ Court on Monday. The 27-year-old admitted grabbing Charis Forsythe by the arm on September 14 as she went to leave their home. Magistrates heard that the couple had had a trivial row earlier in the evening and that the defendant believed it was her night to babysit their four-year-old son. Forsythe, of Victoria Park Road, Fairfield, asked his spouse for £5 so he could go to visit friends in New Mills, but Mrs Forsythe refused and said she was going to her sister’s. He grabbed her left arm and wrist, leaving heavy bruising, and told her to get back in the in house. Reading the complainant’s statement, prosecutor John Cooper said: “Daniel lost his temper on a daily basis. He shouted and swore at everyone, but mostly me. “He’s pushed me in an argument before and thrown phones, a TV, a pie that had come out the oven. He’s kicked a hole in the kitchen door and punched holes in the wall.” James Riley, defending, reminded the Bench that they could only sentence him for the common assault with which he was charged. He said his client had anger issues but that he was a man of previous good character. Forsythe admitted his actions were stupid and were not in self defence and said that he was sorry. Describing the night in question, Mr Riley said: “She’s leaving the property and he’s left holding the baby. The defendant wasn’t trying to control her. He wanted to go out and he wanted her to stay in, as had been arranged.” Gerry Wallis, chairman of the Bench, sentenced Forsythe to a 12-month supervision requirement and 80 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
