Traffic Department to Confiscate Vehicles for Traffic Violations 8 Jun,2014 • Motoring, Public Awareness • No Comments The traffic department has settled on to intensify traffic patrols to control the most common traffic violations. Assistant Director of Traffic Department, Brigadier Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, affirmed that the concerned sections of the traffic department have decided to start an awareness campaigns along with implementing actions to control traffic violations such as parking at slots reserved for persons with special needs and wrongly overtaking from right side in roundabouts and intersections, as they are one of the most common traffic violations. According to Al Thani, both these violations are considered to harm others and their rights on the road as mentioned in the traffic law. Taking into account the rigorous consequences caused by these two violations, the traffic department will take strict actions on these two offenses by confiscating vehicles for one month or more. If violations are repeated, traffic department will confiscate the vehicle and require the driver to pay a fine as mentioned in the law. Al Thani emphasised that the patrolling police have started to implement these actions. Many of the roads in the country are equipped with radars and they are capable to easily identify the violations inducing if a vehicle has been caught wrongly overtaking from right side on roundabouts and intersections. Ft. Lieutenant Nasser Salem Al Turki, a traffic patrolling officer, told that the overtaking from right side cause a lot to traffic jams as it gives the impression of worse behaviour that harms others. The Department officials have urged all motorists to strictly obey traffic rules and to give others their rights in roads so that keep away from traffic violations and devoid of fines.
