CARTOONISTS INVITED TO JOIN IOM COMIC STRIP COMPETITION 23 May 2014- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Philippine Komiks Convention (KOMIKON), in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of the United Nations and other International Organizations (DFA-UNIO), are organizing a comic strip competition in line with the 10th anniversary of KOMIKON. Guidelines of the competition are as follows: • The comic strip must feature a main character who might be a Barangay Captain in a community that is frequently affected by natural disasters. • Comic element must be present in how this character deals with government/humanitarian agencies, by highlighting odd terminologies, contradictions and ultimately good aims. • Contest is open to amateur and professional cartoonists. • Each contestant or group is limited to only one entry. • Entries should adhere to the given theme. Entries deviating from the theme will be automatically disqualified. • Interested parties must submit soft copies of a series of four comic strips on 3 x 10, fully drawn with stories that could be disseminated weekly. • Entries must be submitted by e-mail to tindogkita@gmail. Prizes: • 1 Main Prize – Apple IPad • 1 Consolation Prize – Php 5,000.00 worth of SM gift certificates The deadline for submission of entries is on July 25, 2014.
