CASTING CHARLES (lead): Caucasian actor, mid to late 20s. Has heart and comedic / dramatic range. Awkward, sensitive, and earnest. Tom Hanks in SPLASH; Dustin Hoffman in THE GRADUATE; and young Woody Allen in ANNIE HALL. A contemporary along the lines of Justin Long, Jason Segel, Jason Schwartzman, and Seth Rogen. Previously played by Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie). Completely ordinary. Jewish preferred. Considering union / non-union actors with AEA Showcase pending. ABOUT THE PLAY: Called "a crossbreed between a Niel Simon apartment-comedy & a harder edged David Mamet drama" by the L.A. Times, An Infinite Ache is a play about love, time and the infinite directions in which two lives can travel. Hope and Charles are a pair of lonely twenty-somethings about to end a supremely uninteresting first date. But just as they say good night, the myriad possibilities of their futures and a life shared together come rushing to meet them. From their first kiss to their first child, from a horrible tragedy to a second chance, each moment moves with breath-taking speed. David Schulner is the recent showrunner of Do No Harm and a television writer and producer whose credits include The Event, Desperate Housewives, and Once & Again.
