CAUSE FOR CONCERN: Proverbs 28:9 NKJV One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination. Increasingly, and I think this should be a cause for concern, our PRAYERS in our Churches are becoming more EMOTIONAL than SCRIPTURAL, more SENTIMENTAL than SPIRITUAL. We are progressively looking more like BAAL worshippers, hysterically pleading with their deaf gods to intermit their plagues, in the manner we are now praying. Our prayers are more, loud effusions of the cravings, frustrations, and fears, of our FLESH, than the passions and groanings of our recreated spirits. No matter the vigour and vitality that we exhibit, our prayer is only LEGITIMATE if it is scripture-oriented. Our words only make sense to God in prayer, if its in sync with His own word. Jesus said : John 15:7 NKJV If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. Basically, prayer to us ought to be our taking Gods word back to Him.-Hos14:2. It ought to be our REMINDING Him what He said, and INTELLIGENTLY petitioning Him, based on that saying. -Isa 43:26. But what we offer Him are the wailings of our flesh, instead of the convictions of our heart borne out of the revelations from His word. The more we are praying this way, the more its telling on our intelligence. We are losing the skill and panache of men of excellent spirit, and conducting our religious communions like crude unskilled labourers. Rather than being spiritually edifying and mentally rejuvenating, prayer meetings, even among ministers, is increasingly enervating ; spiritually and mentally. To behave in our prayers, the way the pseudo-religionists behave in theirs, would make us not to get better results than them. Actually, our many prayers on our land, many of which we conduct with great gusto, are embarrassingly yielding little or no results. But we are reaching a point of addiction so that we do it anyway, even if only to assuage our conscience, or to fulfill all righteousness. Dear Pastor JUST QUIT. You know that your so-called prayers have not been working. To avoid becoming an unbeliever at heart, sit down and learn the ART as well as the ACT of proper prayer, from the New Testament, before going public.
