CHAIN LIGHTNING SMASHES THE MIRROR. We had a full size mirror sitting on the wash basin that Peter Brady gave us. There was powerful rain mingled with chain lightning on a Sunday morning and the louvers were closed. Up until then I never believed that lightning was dangerous to humans. All of a sudden I heard breaking of glass and the dog started up under the house. I ran to the washroom and found the mirror to have been smashed but a louver panel was also smashed and there was a stone on the floor. The dog ran out at that moment and this young boy that smashed my window turned around and ran for his life. I went down the back steps and followed the dog after him but he was too fast. I shouted to the dog, go Woofie, skitch him, bite him and the dog went for his shorts but the kid dived over the fence of a house and was in there hiding and crying his eyes out. His father saw that through the window, ran downstairs and gave him a good hiding when he recognized me. I told you not to be going near that man’s house and serve you right if the dog bites you. I went home and told Carol, that kid was trying to cause a diversion to come and steal but his father gave him a spanking. The kid smashed the window by throwing a stone but the mirror was something else. The way the mirror was shattered on the wash basin, it was a bolt of chain lightning that hit it at precisely the same moment when the kid smashed the window. There were two crashes, first the louver that was broken in three parts by a stone but the mirror virtually exploded where it was in one spot so be careful the lightning doesn’t hit you.
