CHAPTER 3: Once the news of the unification of the desert spread other areas quickly followed suit for fear of being over ran by the newly formed desert country, or simply realizing they could put there petty differences aside, but in all cases this unification came with the extermination of the resident snake clan. To the south of the desert was a vast forest nation, the Gimnio, full of owls, bears, wolves, fox and raccoons to name a few of the many clans. To the west, across a vast plain, and just outside of the Gimnio forest was a giant lake and from it arose the nation of Aquatica filled with lake and river demons. The silent nation of Dismal was just to the north of Aquatica. It was a nation who‘s past was shrouded in secrecy, and contested by the mountain nation of Alp (and all of its hearty inhabitants)to the north of Dismal , and the grand nation of Pious, a magnificent country that was a prime example of renaissance at the time, between Alp and the desert. A time of fragile piece fell upon the land, years past, and Xion met a beautiful Gimnio fox named Ozioy. She had long black hair with maroon bangs and beautiful blue eyes that looked like deep pools of calm water. The day they met she had killed a bear demon in the forest that was terrorizing her family. She fled to the desert to draw the bear demon‘s wrath away from them. She stopped on the desert sand and found herself surrounded by bears and wolves alike. Faced with her death she drew a knife and a grin crossed her face. “Well then, how about it, let’s see how many of you I can take with me.” she stood her ground and as the bears closed in a whirlwind of sand stopped them, Xion stood between Ozioy and her pursuers now his sword drawn. “What business do you have hear.” he barked as the bears and wolves got to their feat. “That woman is a murderer! She is ours to punish as such!” a large brown bear growled as he stepped up to Xion. “This is my kingdom, you are in the desert now,” Xion replied, “I know your clans reputation for intimidating others in the forest to get your way, but I assure you that won’t happen here.” “I don’t need intimidation!” the bear growled outraged, “my men and I will tear you apart.” desert wolves came running across the sand and surrounded the bears and their forest cousins. Hawks came flying from the fortress their bows drawn. “Would you risk war?” Xion asked standing his ground. “you would attack your own kin?” one of the forest wolves barked to his desert counterpart “if we must,” Shein replied “and if you would fight us while we defend our home you are no kin of mine.” the bears were outraged but quietly returned to the forest. Xion turned to Shein and thanked him for coming personally and then changed his attention to the refugee he had just saved.
