I love it when my friend friend Arun Ji visits. I first met him first under a walnut tree at 15000 ft near Kheer Ganga. That is his residence for 5 months of the year. Hes done up the floor with mud and cow dung , but it doesnt have a roof - he says it doesnt rain over his little flat- so no need! At other times you could find him on a private plane flying to the north pole, staying at a $1000 a night wild life resort, visiting the Galapagos island, being driven by royalty in convertibles in the English country side...yeah he gets around. Without a penny in his pocket. He visited me today on the way back from seeing the northern lights in Alaska. How does he do it? He told me this story when he was crossing back from Cancun to the US in this trip - Immigration officer - what do you do? Arun ji I have the toughest job in the world - I do nothing. Immigration officer (looking at his many visas then how do you get around? Arun ji - I have inherited a huge fortune from my father, the Almighty. The immigration guy let him through laughing. He has walked to Kailash Mansarover (Tibet) 20 times -all illegally! He simply went. Once he was even caught by the Chinese troops and instead of putting him in jail ( as they normally do) one of them gave him his own boots (he was in sandals) and sent him on his way! Today I picked him up from Lonavala station by bike. Since he said he was looking forward to the bike ride after many years- I let rip a bit on highway and when we got home and I asked him how was it? He said- I was wondering what it would have felt like inside Hudud (a hurricane that just hit the east coast of India) - now I know. He said after his walnut tree , my Umbar tree (wild fig - the one I have hinged my entire garden design on ) is the second place in the world where he would like to sit. We have magic here ! Its official!
