WHEN will the State Govt wake up to this fact & stop ASF? “The Sichuan Airline flights and the theme park will complement other investments by Chinese businesses such as a Friendship Bridge, which will link Chevron Island and the new cultural precinct, and will be financed by business in China,” Mr Mays said. “A large statue of Confucius will also be financed by Chinese businessmen and installed at Chinatown at Southport before Chinese New Year.” Tourism consultant Mike Jones said any addition to the tourism structure would be beneficial to the Gold Coast. “People might say we have too many theme parks, but they do attract more tourists and quite a lot of tourists will visit more than one theme park,” he said. “It might be added competition for our existing parks but it will be in a good way.” Mr Jones said he had no qualms about the Chinese ownership of the proposed park, saying overseas ownership was good thing when new products were developed as a result. “As long as these things are not being developed exclusively for an international market then it should a great addition,” he said.
