MANGOS: The high levels of fiber, pectin and vitamin C help to lower serum cholesterol levels, specifically Low-Density Lipoprotein. One small mango has 25% of your recommended daily vitamin C, about 75% of your dose of vitamin A, and also contains vitamin E, vitamin K, phosphorus and magnesium. WALNUTS Researchers have examined the effects of eating a handful of walnuts each day in addition to a healthy diet. The researchers found that on average, people who ate the walnuts had an increase in their good HDL cholesterol and a drop of 10% in their bad LDL cholesterol levels.
