CHRIS ROBERTS and DISCOVER DEKALB MUSIC 2014 Kick off the 2014/15 Season at Kamama Music Series Mentone, AL.: Kamama Music Series at Kamama Gallery, 5951 Ala. Hwy 117, Mentone, Al., presents this month on March 6th at 7PM, a very special performance featuring Chris Roberts, local acclaimed music educator and musician/songwriter. Along with Roberts, will be some of the top students from the Discover DeKalb Music Program. The Discover DeKalb Music program began as an outreach to area Middle and High School Students that desire to develop their performance skills, from the acclaimed Guitar Program at Fort Payne Middle School where 7th and 8th graders have the opportunity to study the guitar at the beginning level and intermediate level. The students have been featured on the statewide Access Alabama program, at Fort Payne’s Boom Days Heritage Celebration, and the DeKalb County VFW Fair. They also recorded a special Christmas CD that featured members of the Country Music Hall of Fame group, ALABAMA. The group will kick off its 2014/15 season with this performance at Kamama. Folks will be able to experience how these students are developing their talents and how someday they’ll take their place in the continuation and preservation of the rich musical heritage of our community. Parents and Patrons will be also given the opportunity to join the Big Wills Arts Council in supporting this arts-in-education program by making donations and pledges for this coming season. April 26th is the date for Discover DeKalb Music’s Annual Workshop and Public Performance to be held at the DeKalb Theatre, Downtown Fort Payne. “ New “ Students will be invited to join the cast and will have the opportunity to work with professional musicians and teachers to develop their performance skills. Every first and third Thursday of each month, Kamama Gallery in partnership with Russell Gulley of TRG Enterprises presents some of the best original singer/songwriters, traditional and roots musicians that can be found from around the Southeast.
