CHRIST IN WORKPLACE Bi-Weekly Business Devotional. Topic: A SETBACK FOR A COMEBACK Word-In-Heart: -Although the fig tree shall not blossom...and the fields shall yield no meat... Yet I will rejoice in the Lord...and He will make me to walk upon mine high places... - Habakkuk 3:17-19 -Psalm 85- Life is full of ups and downs. Seasons of mountain top and down valley as well as plainness are the experiences that greet our daily living, especially in business that takes the most active phase of every day life. We spend average of 10-12 hours in a day on our jobs, 70-72 hours every week, 284 - 288 hours a month, 3408 - 3456 hours a year working out 8760 hours making a year. Now subtract 3408 -3456 hours from every year of your life (since you started earning a life) and see how much time we spend on our job. Thats amazing youd conclude. This is how our time-consuming the most active part of our lives can be. And the adventurous thing about our work life is that it is full of drama series, most of which are unscripted and unforeseen in advance. The variety of unfolding events in our worklife mean two things: ups and downs as indictively implied in profit and loss, promotion and demotion, replacement and displacement etc. Two words that Id preferably use to qualify the undulating experiences of worklife topography is setback and comeback or surge-back. There is nothing like business as usual with changing business climate, ever-dynamic work attitude that constantly alters success altitude in the business world, evolving trends affecting demand and supply chains etc. All these crop challenges which take on ventures in several ways, forcing executives and business organizations either to stand still or surge back. Whatever might be your case, it is imperative for a healthy worklife to settle in your mind that God is committed to your worklife in the same measure as He is committed to keeping the breathe flowing through your nostrils. Psalm 107: 23-24 disclosed that They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters (emphasis mine: great industries, people-driven sectors); These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep. So no matter how depth of your business or profession, it is not outside divine coverage for the working of Gods wonders. You will do yourself a lot more good than you can ever imagine when you settle this truth in your heart as a business person. One major reason for this amongst many others is the vicissitudes of life that hit business at any time (t), causing setbacks which in most cases had sent many executives back home, companies out of business and products out of market. It is godly to do business whether a business man believes in God or not. Doing business is an inherent God-factor in every human divinely ordained to enhance earthly relevance. And the devil is a friend to no one, not even to those exiled in his domain. And so, he engages the gates of hell to fight businesses with devouring challenges since he is set to fight all that is godly. And so to this end, it will be inept to enable logic in order to throw away the place of God in professional work life. Men at their best are bound to be faced with the worst scenarios in business. Why? Because prudence in business without God, by divine programme, will come to nothing, however sound and promising (1 Cor. 1:19-20). And in most cases, this becomes a reality when overwhelming challenges effectuate major setbacks in business. Wit ends of professionals are discovered so cheaply at this point. Running helter-skelter to remedy situations like the bustling in emergency room takes the day. Production cut, pay slash, job cut and many other cuts and slashes are evident in those setback moments. While all these portray wisdom for preservation which is forced down on business persons and their organizations by setbacks, turning up to God is the most viable guarantee for a massive comeback. The business executives and organization in Psalm 107: 23-30 were faced with challenges that caused major setbacks for them. Transquility associated with doing business was lost to troubles on th job. Cheers in the workplace had been invaded and sub-merged in challenges. Business plans have been upset as parameters set and templates designed for success proved abortive. Firing and hiring the best brains couldnt even stop the onslaught of economic reccession on businesses and economies around the world. Whats next thing to do? Turn up to God! Horizontal progress in business is guaranteed by a one-way vertical decision - a resolve to look up to God. Plotting a downward plan to men or the devil to salvage your business career is grading negative results and further setbacks. If these business people in Psalm 107 can turn up to heaven in order to reach their desired haven in business, then you too can bounce back from whatever setbacks you have in business and make a huge comeback. In all your ways, Proverbs 3: 6 says, and He (God) will direct your paths. Business and career life is inclusive. The same God, according to Isaiah 48:17-19,21, teaches men in business to make sustainable profits and leads them every step of the way, provided they are willing to listen to Him and follow His directives while on their business. Setbacks are not sent-out but sent-forth to make a comeback. So rejoice through present challenges in your workplace and life. Make them pass over with joy in God at all times. Challenges are rather ways to appreciate that life isnt static. Pull your praise trigger during the short reccesses you have in office and those setbacks will give way to your comeback in grand style. Its comeback story for you this week and always in business in Jesus name. Action Point: Bold Declaration of Faith My present and lingering challenges in business are giving way to a long-lasting weights of glory in Jesus. I am emerging a breakthrough reference with supernatural comebacks in workplace and market in the name of Jesus. Open heavens with solution showers attend to every challenge and boost my and organizations relevance in the market in Jesus mighty name, amen. Have a breakthrough business day with Christ in your workplace! #CEN... #ChristInWorkplace
