CLINTON SCHOOLS #1 IN MISSISSIPPI!!! Congratulations to our students, teachers, administrators, and staff! ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Out of 148 total school districts in Mississippi, the Clinton Public School District is the highest scoring one, earning the NUMBER ONE RANKING IN THE ENTIRE STATE, based on accountability results released today by the Mississippi Department of Education. Last year, the district was second in the state. The district has steadily improved since the 2008-09 school year, when Clinton was sixth-highest. CPSD also earned an A under this year’s scores. While many districts will carry last year’s rating over for this year because the scoring model changed from last year’s, eliminating the QDI method of scoring, CLINTON SCORED ENOUGH TO EARN THEIR “A” OUTRIGHT, WITH NO WAIVERS. For a district to earn an A rating, it must have an overall score of at least 695. CLINTON’S SCORE WAS 701. MDE allowed waivers for districts to keep last years rankings if their score dropped due to Common Core implementation. CLINTON IS AN A DISTRICT OUTRIGHT, NO WAIVER, THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE ACADEMIC RATING A MISSISSIPPI DISTRICT CAN ATTAIN. The school district will salute the students, educators and families at tonight’s home football game with a gigantic halftime celebration of this achievement. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Arrow Stadium, and the public is invited. General admission tickets are $7 and may be purchased at the gate. Each school will be represented on the football field at halftime, and their official ranking will be announced. All CPSD parents, students, teachers and supporters are encouraged to attend and celebrate this year’s rankings.
