COAST DAILY WEATHER REPORT: SUNNY (AGAIN) IN THE 60S, CALM WINDS BUT SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY & HAZARDOUS SEAS WATCH (NOTE: Here are the conditions sent in the daily coast weather report by MSP to the CoCoRAHS Network - were station CA-MD-5 (in Elk). Theyre the conditions the previous day (8:00 am to 8:00 am today.). H= 57.8F (3:00 pm), L= 41.2F, NOW = 43F, RH 88%, Dew pt 37F, Wind 3.5 mph NNE, Ocean temp 51F, Waves 8.8 Barometer 29.95inHg(F). Marine layer still making its presence known on the horizon but otherwise cloudless & sunny in Elk at 8:00 am. The National Weather Service issued a Small Craft Advisory today with a Hazardous Sea Watch to be in effect Thursday all day & night. Hazy (but nice) sunset Tuesday as the sun set into the marine layer. We are 10-for-18 in sunsets for March. Sunrise was 7:20 am, sunset is 7:26 pm. Length of day is 12 hours, 6 minutes, 9 seconds - two minutes, 26 seconds longer than Tuesday. The moon phase is Waning Gibbous. There have been 69 days so far this year, there are 296 days left. There is a 5. high tide at 1:05 pm in Mendocino Bay. Todays forecast: The Intellicast forecast calls for Mostly sunny. The more accurate NWS put it this way: Today: Sunny, with highs mainly in the lower 60s. Calm wind becoming northwest between 6-9 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with lows mostly in the middle 40s. NNW wind between 5-10 mph. NWS EUREKA (OCEAN): The NWS issued a Small Craft Advisory in effect through Friday evening. The also issued a Hazardous Seas Watch in effect Thursday morng through late Thursday night. The NWS said: A surge of high pressure will impact the waters today through Friday with Northerly GALE to NEAR GALE conditions. Waves NW 11 @ 10 seconds. SURFING CONDITIONS (From Swellinfo):1-3 overhead-high mix of NW ground swell and WNW ground swell. Semi glassy conditions in the morning with NNE winds less than 5 mph. Bumpy/choppy conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting NNW 10-15 mph. MSP PHOTO--The cirrus clouds were wispy (and pretty) over the Mendocino coast Tuesday.
