COLORADO SPRINGS AIRPORT MAY BE UPGRADED For more than a decade - TopicsExpress

COLORADO SPRINGS AIRPORT MAY BE UPGRADED For more than a decade the Colorado Springs Municipal Airport has been wondering what to do about its declining passenger numbers. In 2002, there were more than 1 million people flying in and out of the airport, which is located at 7770 Milton E. Proby Parkway. Last year those numbers reached a new low of just over 690,000. In an effort to revive interest and use of the facility, a local task force is now recommending that an unused passenger concourse to the east of the airport should be renovated. The estimated price tag: at least $500,000. That same task force also wants to see the construction of a business center and lounge, which could attract more business travelers. The task force thinks the center and lounge could be built for around $233,000. The proposals for the airport, which was originally built in 1927 and is owned by the City of Colorado Springs, must now go to the Colorado Springs City Council for approval.
