COMMUNITY NOTICE FOR FERRY USERS: SeaLink Queensland wishes to advise that due to the deepening low weather system approaching Townsville and on advice with the Harbour Master and Authorities it is likely that services will be interrupted as of Thursday 30th of January. The Palm Island Services for Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January have been cancelled and the next service to and from Palm Island is expected to be running on Saturday 1st February, departing 12.30pm from Townsville. For Magnetic Island, the last service planned between Townsville to Magnetic Island will depart from Breakwater Terminal at 5.20pm on Thursday 30th and leaving Magnetic Island at 5.55pm from Nelly Bay. ``SeaLink Queensland wishes to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause any residents or visitors to the region, however our paramount concern is the safety of both our passengers and our staff,” General Manager Paul Victory said. ``We will be issuing updates via the Emergency SMS service, via our Facebook page, and also via the website”, said Mr Victory. The SeaLink Queensland team is experienced in similar emergencies, running both the Queensland and Northern Territory operations and having been through previous weather related interruptions including Cyclone Yasi in 2011.
