COOKING UP A STORM: The Erupt Lake Taupo Arts Festival has givien Waiariki Institute of Technology Taupo hospitality and culinary students an opportunity to test their catering skills and get a taste of some Festival action. The students who are part way through study for certificates in café operations and professional cookery have volunteered their services to supply and serve a range of pizzas, platters and sweet treats to Festival goers at The Malcom Flowers Insurances Cube. Festival General Manager Liz Pollock says the catering arrangement is working out brilliantly for all parties. Keeping a community focus is part of the Festival’s philosophy and we’re thrilled to be able to give the Waiariki students an opportunity to use their skills. “They are setting a very high standard and having them offer their time free of charge is also a huge bonus for the Festival. Waiariki Tutor Sarah Hammersley says the work experience that the students are gaining at the Festival is invaluable.
