CORPORATE WORSHIP IN THE 21ST CENTURY Started out as a Christian listening to Bob Fitts and the Maranatha singers tape. And that of Terry Clark and Morris Chapman. That was 1992 during my youth service year. I wore those tapes out. Fast forward 22 years later, you want to ask yourself, where have the great worship songs gone? Actually there are great songwriters and songs still out there. Its just that youd have to sift them out among the rubble of extreme noise. In 1992, there was no internet, no twitter, no BB and in fact no facebook. We are more distracted today like never before. Yes, we have a lot of people getting saved but like someone said, very little conversion. Todays worship leaders must see the time of ministry as that of a discipling process. How can this be? What we do must tilt more towards ministry than performance. Your heart will always let you know how far gone you are in either direction. Today, performance is like the broad street that Jesus mentioned in Matthew 7. It really doesnt take an effort to flow into it. Its the acceptable norm. Being ministry focused is going through the narrow gate. Only a few find it and remain therein. A simple way of resolving whether you are overly ministry driven or overly performance driven is this: Is it more about me or about serving God and His people? Ponder this and effect the necessary balance. (To be continued 1pm tomorrow)
