COUNSELING CORNER LETTER 10/31 Dear Brain and Steele, So it has begun. Every year around the end of summer and start of fall my wife launches into this “we need to get fit and lose weight phase.” She says its because the upcoming holidays wreck havoc on our waistlines and our overall fitness as we become more indoor people. Ive been through this battle every year for at LEAST the past 8 years (weve been married 10 years – she mustve taken the first two years off.) Anyway, what is so frustrating to me is over the next two months – leading up to and through Thanksgiving and Christmas the food in the house becomes almost uneatable at times. Lots of salads and smoothies. I have tried to keep a stash of real food hidden, but she usually finds it, berates me, and throws is away. I want to yell and scream “this is YOUR problem...not mine!” To help make it through this time, I do usually go out for lunch so I get one meal a day without wheatgrass, spinach, and beet root. Here are the vital stats you are probably wondering – I am 511” and weigh 179 lbs (and have for most of our marriage) and my wife is about 3 inches shorter than me and I would say tips the scales about 50 pounds heavier than I am (which she has slowly put on since our wedding but I have NEVER complained about). I am all for spousal support, but I need my meals – which she is hardcore about doing away with. In years past, she drops maybe 10 pounds between now and two weeks before Christmas, but then by New Years...its back and the cycle begins again. Help?? Sully
