COUNTERFEIT MONEY- ARREST Winnipeg Police Service Press release On March 12, 2014 shortly before 4:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members were dispatched to attend to a retail store within the 400 block of Portage Avenue after an alert cashier encountered a male attempting to pay with counterfeit US twenty-dollar bills. Upon arrival officers met with security and took custody of the suspect male. The suspect was in possession of numerous counterfeit Canadian and American bank notes. Members of the Commercial Crime Unit continued with this investigation. On March 13, 2014, a search warrant was obtained for residence in the area of Yale Avenue East and Wabasha Street. Following the following execution of the search warrant, investigators seized a scanner/printer, a laptop, and both, completed counterfeit bills and partially completed counterfeit bills. A 28-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing a number of charges including Possess Counterfeit Instruments, Making Counterfeit Money and the Possession and Uttering of Counterfeit Money.
