COURT SACKS NASARAWA APC CHAIR, EXCO MEMBERSThe Lafia High Court III, yesterday granted an order sought by a chieftain of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, to restrain the state interim chairman of the party, Stanley Buba and the entire members of the executive, from parading themselves as officers of the party. Justice Aisha Ahmed granted the interlocutory injunction sought by Omar Nurudeen, a 2011 Lafia/Obi federal House of Representatives candidate of the defunct ACN, after lawyers of the plaintiff argued that the continuous stay of Buba and the secretary, Barrister Mustapha Galadima, as well as the treasurer, Princess Florence Ayi in office might deny the plaintiff justice. The court therefore restrained Buba, Galadima and Ayi from parading themselves as officials of the party, pending the determination of the substantive suit. The court further held that the first and second respondents which are the party’s national secretariat and it’s state chapter, respectively, are restrained from constituting, recognizing and inaugurating the state harmonization committee pending the hearing of the motion on notice. Nurudeen had gone to court to challenge the membership of the three interim management committee members and urged the court to declare their appointment null and void. Nurudeen swore affidavit to support his claims that the chairman, secretary and treasurers of APC in Nasarawa were not members of any of the parties that merged to form the APC, and as such they were not qualified to head the party in the state.
