COVENTRY Storm look to finally get their season underway when they visit defending National League Champions Cradley on Tuesday (7.30pm). The meeting becomes the first leg of the Travel Plus Trophy after the abandonment after six races at Brandon ten days ago. Both the City Gearboxes Storm and the Heathens have been further frustrated by the weather since then, with the Storm’s league trip to Devon called-off over the weekend whilst Cradley also suffered a postponement to their National Shield match at King’s Lynn. But riders from both teams have been busy with Premier and Elite League bookings in the early part of the season, and Storm skipper James Sarjeant picked up five (paid six) for Scunthorpe against Sheffield on Sunday. With Oliver Greenwood in action for his Premier League club Peterborough on Tuesday the Storm have called up ex-Heathens rider Darryl Ritchings to guest at No.3, and he lines up alongside Dan Greenwood who spent the last two seasons with the opposition. Storm co-boss Laurence Rogers said: “It’s been such a frustrating start to the season, but hopefully all of that is behind us and the boys are desperate to get going. “We’ve brought in Darryl with the agreement of Cradley as we’re also allowing them to use Ashley Morris in place of Paul Starke, and this should be a really good test for us before our first league match against Scunthorpe on Friday.” CRADLEY: Ashley Morris, Nathan Greaves, Tom Perry, Max Clegg, Steve Worrall, Matt Williamson, Danny Phillips. CITY GEARBOXES STORM: Stefan Nielsen, Luke Crang, Darryl Ritchings, Dan Greenwood, James Sarjeant, Ryan Terry-Daley, Martin Knuckey.
